The Netherlands secured their spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics after a decisive victory in their final group match of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) against South Korea. The Dutch team needed just one set to clinch their qualification, but they swept the match with a 3-0 victory, winning the sets 25-21, 25-11, and 25-17.
This will be the fourth Olympic appearance for the Dutch women, having previously competed in Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996), and Rio de Janeiro (2016).
Germany Ends VNL Season on a High Note
The German women’s volleyball team ended their VNL season with a strong 3-0 victory over Thailand. Middle blocker Camilla Weitzel led the team with 19 points. Despite missing the Olympics, the team showed great potential and growth throughout the tournament, finishing in 12th place.
Italy Continues Winning Streak in VNL
Italy secured their fourth consecutive win in Fukuoka, defeating Serbia 3-1. This victory helps Italy consolidate their position in the rankings and prepares them for the VNL Finals in Bangkok. Key players included Degradi and Antropova, each scoring 17 points.
Brazil Maintains Unbeaten Record
Brazil completed the VNL preliminary round undefeated with a 3-0 win over Turkey, securing their position at the top of the standings. Rosamaria was the top scorer with 14 points. Brazil’s next challenge will be against Thailand in the quarterfinals.
USA Advances to VNL Finals
The USA women’s volleyball team secured their place in the VNL Finals with a straight-sets victory over Japan.
