In a unanimous decision at the 39th FIVB World Congress, Fabio Azevedo has been elected as the new President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), heralding a thrilling new chapter for the sport worldwide. Azevedo unveiled his Strategic Vision 2024-2032, aiming to elevate volleyball’s professional standards and double its global fanbase of 800 million through enhanced engagement and mass participation.

“I am honored and humbled to serve the Global Volleyball Movement,” Azevedo stated. “Together as one, we will drive professionalism, integration, empowerment, and expand our reach.”

Adding to the momentum, Hugh McCutcheon, a former Olympic gold and silver medal-winning coach with the USA men’s and women’s national teams, has been appointed as the new FIVB Secretary General. “I’m excited to contribute to the sport I love in meaningful new ways,” McCutcheon remarked. “This is a deeply rewarding moment, and I’m grateful to help shape volleyball’s next chapter.”
