In one of the most exciting matches of Day 2, Italy roared back from a one-set deficit to defeat Belgium 3-1 in Pool D. After a dominant Belgian start, Italy flipped the script, with Caterina Peroni leading the way with 18 points. Belgium’s Flore Maes responded with 12, but couldn’t stop Italy’s momentum.
In Pool A, Croatia delighted home fans by defeating Mexico 3-1, led by a stellar 23-point performance from Asja Zolota. Germany, despite missing their captain, rallied past Egypt 3-1 with Leilani Slacanin and Henriette Kranz each contributing 15 points. Thailand also claimed their first win, downing Canada in four sets behind Supawadee Panwilai’s 23-point outing.
Pool B saw clean sweeps by Brazil, Serbia, and Chinese Taipei, all showing dominant form. Lara Rodrigues Almeida starred for Brazil, while Anja Miovcic helped Serbia grab their first win.
In Pool C, Poland continued its dream run, beating Turkiye 3-0, with Liliana Wojcik again leading the charge. USA also stayed perfect, overpowering Peru in straight sets as Henley Anderson dominated.
Japan and China remained flawless in Pool D with 3-0 victories over Tunisia and Chile, respectively. Sixteen-year-old Rion Chuganji dazzled for Japan, scoring 26 points.
