Italy delivered a dominant performance to sweep Argentina 3–0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22) in the Round of 16 at the Volleyball World Championship.

Argentina started well in the opening set, with Luciano Vicentin leading the charge. But Italy’s blocking and the steady play of Simone Giannelli proved too much, as the defending champions edged the set 25-23.
The Italians tightened their grip in the second set. Alessandro Michieletto was unstoppable on the left wing, while Mattia Bottolo and Yuri Romanò added firepower to extend the lead. Giannelli again sealed the set with attack.
The third set was Argentina’s last stand, with both sides battling point for point until 20:20. Then Romanò stepped up, firing two aces that shifted the momentum. Italy closed out the match 25:22 to keep their title defense alive.
Italy now await the winner of Belgium vs. Finland in the quarterfinals.
