Despite arriving in Nanjing with a youthful roster that included several debutants, Zoran Terzić’s side delivered a composed performance to secure their first victory of the VNL 2026 action.

Aleksandra Uzelac led Serbia with a match-high 17 points and was named MVP after recording 15 kills, one block, and one ace. Debutant opposite hitter Anja Zubić impressed in her senior international debut with 12 points, while middle blockers Hena Kurtagić and Maja Aleksić added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Serbia survived a late comeback attempt in the opening set after leading 23-18 before closing it out 26-24. The Europeans then controlled the second and third sets, winning 25-22 and 25-19 to complete the sweep in 76 minutes.

The Serbian block proved decisive, with Terzić’s team outscoring Thailand 10-3 in that category. Serbia also held advantages in attack efficiency (45% to 40%) and serve aces (3-1), while posting a strong 64% positive reception rate.
