Canada will be outside of the Volleyball Nations League next season after a straight-sets loss to Cuba confirmed their relegation.

The Canadians were beaten 3-0 in Osaka, Japan, dropping to 1-10 after 11 matches. With only one match remaining against Belgium, Canada can no longer climb out of the relegation zone.
It has been a difficult campaign for the North American side, whose only win came against France earlier in the tournament. Despite the disappointing record, many of Canada’s defeats were closely contested, with seven of 10 losses coming in five-set matches.
The relegation marks a disappointing turnaround for a team that reached the VNL quarterfinals in 2024. Head coach Dan Lewis praised his players for their commitment throughout the tournament, despite the outcome.
Result:
Canada – Cuba 0-3 (22-25, 21-25, 27-29)
