GP 2017: U.S. ladies sweep Italy to reach 2-0

The rejuvenated U.S. Women’s National Team means business in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix – Group 1 as they reached 2-0.

The ladies coached by Karch Kiraly, who set off 2017 Grand Prix campaign with several young players who have none or very little international experience, defeated Italy in Preliminary Round (Week 1, Round 2) in Pool B1 in Kunshan, China, in straight sets, partially 25-21, 25-22, 25-19.

In addition to a solid performance of the USA, Italian team committed as many as 30 unforced errors to suffer already a second defeat in the tournament.

TeTori Dixon (4 aces) and Michelle Bartsch-Hackley scored 10 points each for the United States while Paola Egonu made 11 for Italy.
