The second seed Cannes, the most successful female club in the history of the French Championship with 20 titles, prevailed over No.4 seed Nantes in Game 1 of the 2018/19 Ligue A Féminine playoff finals, on the road, by a 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-23).
Héléna Cazaute highlighted for Cannes with 22 points, while the Italian libero Luna Carocci made 86% positive reception (42 digs). As a team, Cannes made as much as 81% positive reception. The American outside hitter Annika Albrecht scored 20 points for Nantes. The Serbian libero Tatjana Burmazović made 83% positive reception (24 digs).
Winning the first match in the final series might be a good sign for Cannes knowing that they lost every opening game in the title matchup since they were crowned champions for the last time so far, in 2015. And they played two playoff finals after that.
2018/19 Ligue A Féminine playoff finals – Game 1:
(4) Nantes – (2) Cannes 1-3 (25-20, 16-25, 18-25, 23-25), series 0-1
