According to OA Sport, France are facing numerous setbacks ahead of the European qualifying tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from January 5 to January 10.
The presence of the starting opposite hitter Stéphan Boyer is at risk. The reason why Boyer might not participate in the event is that he doesn’t get along with Earvin Ngapeth. It’s a consequence of a quarrel between these two that occurred during the 2019 CEV European Championship.
In addition, the outside hitter Trévor Clévenot has returned to Italy, where he competes on a club level, due to back problems. Kévin Tillie might be also missing in Berlin, while Julien Lyneel complained about health problems. Both cover an outside hitter position, just as Thibault Rossard who was the first to fall off the list due to injury.
