The rematch of the quarterfinals of the 2020 CEV Men’s Cup between Leo Shoes Modena and GFC Ajaccio was one of the encounters in the European cups this week whose playing was under the question mark because of the coronavirus.

French media revealed one of the main reasons why the rematch of the quarterfinals of the 2020 CEV Men’s Cup between Modena and Ajaccio (3-0 in the first leg) was postponed despite being initially scheduled to be played behind closed doors, this Wednesday. The Corsican club asked the French Volleyball Federation (FFV) to support its initiative not to go to Italy. The encounter was about to be held in the Italian city of Modena, located in the Emilia-Romagna region, one of the most affected by the coronavirus in Italy.

Poland’s Jastrzębski Węgiel failed to persuade CEV to postpone their CEV Champions League game against Itas Trentino in Italy.

Recall that apart from Modena vs. Ajaccio, three more encounters of European cups were postponed as well.
