The French team scored a big victory against Italian vice-champions Copra Elior PIACENZA last week (25-19, 27-29, 25-13, 22-25, and 15-10) while ACH Volley LJUBLJANA recorded a clean win against Bulgaria’s Marek Union-Ivkoni DUPNITSA. Both teams also won their last matches in their respective national league.
The head coach of ACH Volley LJUBLJANA Luka Slabe is aware of the fact that his team will face a tough opponent on Tuesday. “At the moment TOURS VB is probably the strongest team in the group. They don’t have a bad player on the team, but the main responsibility lies on their team captain David Konecny. It is difficult to get prepared for him, because he always adapts his game to the opponent. TOURS VB plays quick and attractive Volleyball and doesn’t make many mistakes.”
Andrej Flajs, team captain of ACH Volley, adds that the two teams already met in the past, but stresses TOURS VB is even stronger today. “They have many international players, who also play for their respective national teams: Kamil Baranek and David Konecny for the Czech Republic, Jayson Jablonsky and David Smith for the USA, Jean-François Exiga and Gérald Hardy-Dessources for France, etc. TOURS VB won both of their matches so far, but it will be more difficult for them to play in Stožice.” The team hopes for strong support from the home crowd to spur them on towards another victory.
