Germany, France, Serbia and Slovenia gathered in Ludwigsburg where they opened the 4 Nations Cup. In the first round of the tournament, France defeated the host Germany by 3-1 (25:22, 25:21, 19:25, 25:20). Unfortunately we could not find STATS from this game anywhere online.

Still there is a statement from Vital Heynen, head coach of Germany:

“France was clearly better. We needed two sets to start playing our game. Still the final result was not a surprise for me.  Actually I did not expect that we would open the first set so good. Unfortunately, we did not use a five-point lead, but that is why we are playing against the best teams – To learn” said Heynen.

In the other game Slovenia made quite a surprise by defeating Serbia in five sets – 3-2 (25:21, 18:25, 26:24, 22:25, 15:13). The top scorer in the winning side was Tine Urnaut who made 18 points, while Klemen Čebulj added 15. In Serbian team, Uroš Kovačević scored 16 points, while Aleksandar Atanasijević stopped at 14.

On the second day of the tournament (Saturday), Serbia will play against France, while Slovenia will face Germany.
