Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 Haute-Marne prevailed in a duel between the two 2018 CEV Champions League participants against Spacer’s Toulouse by a 3-0 (29-27, 25-19, 25-23) in Round 20.
Chaumont coach Silvano Prandi decided to rest his best scorer Stéphen Boyer after an exhausting Champions League encounter against PGE Skra Bełchatów in which the club earned the Playoffs 12 spot. He acted as the backup to the Tunisian opposite Wassim Ben Tara. Yacine Louati topped Chaumont with 13 points while their libero Jérémie Mouiel made 74% reception (15 digs, 50% perfect). The Canadian Ryan Nickifor scored 19 points for Toulouse.
Huge attacking display of Colombian opposite Ronald Jiménez, who scored 37 points, and 72% reception (58 digs! 3 errors) of the Estonian outside hitter Martti Juhkami were not enough for Tourcoing Volley-Ball to beat Montpellier Volley Université Club, 2-3. Jean Patry scored 26 points for the winning side, while another Estonian, Andri Aganits, made 4 kill blocks.
