After winning the German Cup a week ago, VfB Friedrichshafen failed to continue winning streak and was defeated in the first game of the Bundesliga playoffs. The team of head coach Mark Lebedew lost 2-3 (25-17, 29-31, 26-24, 19-25, 10-15) to WWK Volleys Herrsching on Saturday evening. On Friday, the teams will meet again in the second game of the playoff quarterfinals (the best of three) in Munich’s Audi Dome. If VfB Friedrichshafen wins, the decisive match is scheduled for a week later in the ratiopharm arena.
Two playoff quarterfinal matches are scheduled for today. In Frankfurt, United Volleys Frankfurt will host SVG Lüneburg, while in the second match Berlin Recycling Volleys will play against HELIOS Grizzlys Giesen. SWD powervolleys Düren and Netzhoppers KW will play their first quarterfinal match on March 23rd.
