The Berlin Recycling Volleys claimed their 14th German Volleyball Championship title after a commanding 3-0 victory over VfB Friedrichshafen in the playoff final series. The match, witnessed by a full house of 8,553 spectators at the Max-Schmeling-Halle, ended with scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-17.
From the outset, the BR Volleys absorbed the energy of the arena, converting it into a strong start, and never looked back. Marek Sotola led the scoring with a remarkable 17 points, including 3 blocks and a 67% attack success rate. Timothée Carle, in his farewell game for the team, contributed significantly with 15 points.
The victory was especially sweet as it came after a challenging series, with both teams previously tied at 2-2 in wins and 9-9 in sets. The match also marked a historic moment as the BR Volleys set a new record for the most championships won by a team in the league’s history.
