In a recent interview with the German Sportschau.de, which was also published on the German Volleyball Federation’s website, veteran Georg Grozer shared his intention to continue his journey with the German national volleyball team and suggested he might compete in next year’s World Championship.
Grozer, known as “the grandpa” of the German men’s team, has been a key player since 2007, making his mark in top leagues worldwide and amassing numerous accolades, including European Championship silver and World Championship bronze. Reflecting on Germany’s narrow exit from the Olympic quarterfinals in Paris, Grozer shared his ongoing emotional struggle and pride in the team’s performance, while emphasizing the need for some downtime to fully process and recover.
Despite approaching his 40th birthday, Grozer remains passionate and committed to his role within the team. He expressed a willingness to continue contributing both on and off the court, as long as his body allows and he can support his teammates.
Looking ahead, Grozer is eyeing the World Championship in the Philippines next year as a significant goal. While he acknowledges that the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics might be beyond his reach, he remains optimistic about making an impact in the near future.
