Brazil’s Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa, known as Duda, have clinched the gold medal in women’s beach volleyball at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Brazilian pair defeated Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson in a thrilling final, winning 2-1 with set scores of 26-24, 12-21, and 15-10.

This victory marks Brazil’s return to the top of the Olympic podium in women’s beach volleyball after 28 years. The last Brazilian team to achieve this was Jaqueline Silva and Sandra Pires, who won gold in Atlanta 1996. The final match, held at the iconic Eiffel Tower Arena on August 9, 2024, was a showcase of Brazilian resilience and skill.

Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa won all seven of their matches in the tournament. In the final, despite an early deficit in the third set, the duo rallied from a 7-2 deficit to eventually win the set 15-10.

In the bronze medal match, Switzerland’s Tanja Huberli and Nina Brunner defeated Australia’s Mariafe Artacho Del Solar and Taliqua Clancy 2-0 (21-17, 21-15). This victory secures Switzerland’s second consecutive Olympic bronze in women’s beach volleyball and represents Europe’s third-ever podium finish in the sport. Huberli and Brunner’s strong performance outshone their Australian counterparts, with Huberli contributing 19 points and Brunner adding 16 points to their tally.
