The SWD powervolleys Düren extended their perfect start to the Volleyball Bundesliga with a thrilling 3-2 home win over reigning champions Berlin Recycling Volleys. In front of 2,500 fans, Düren showed heart and resilience to outlast Berlin (25:16, 18:25, 22:25, 25:23, 15:9).
Despite Berlin’s Daniel Malescha scoring 20 points, Düren’s MVP Joris Berkhout and libero Troy Gooch led their team to victory. Berlin, still winless after two games, fought back in the middle sets but faltered in the decider as Düren’s serve and defense dominated.
In other matches, VfB Friedrichshafen beat WWK Volleys Herrsching 3-0, while SVG Lüneburg celebrated a 3-0 home victory over Volley GOATS Central Germany.
