VfB Suhl LOTTO Thüringen moved two wins away from a historic first Bundesliga title after defeating Dresdner SC 3-0 in the opening match of the German Volleyball Bundesliga playoff finals.

Mackenzie Foley (10 pts) was named MVP for Suhl after leading the hosts in an impressive display, and Monika Brancuska added 16 and was team top scorer. For Dresden, Marta Levinska scored 21 points, while Mette Pfeffer added 12.
Dresden were without injured captain and libero Patricia Nestler, forcing a late lineup adjustment. Head coach Alexander Waibl admitted Suhl were the better side on the night.
“We lost against a team that was simply better and made fewer mistakes,” Waibl said after the match.
The first two sets were closely contested, but Suhl stayed composed in the closing stages of both. The home side then dominated the third set to wrap up victory in just 78 minutes.
Suhl now lead the best-of-five series 1-0, with Game 2 scheduled for Saturday in Dresden.
