A 21-year-old opposite Issei Otake came to United Volleys from the Chuo University, who did not completely lost the right on him as he will return to play for them in the university championship (All Japan Intercollegiate Volleyball Championship) in December. He came to the club to replace Australian Mitchell Tulley, who had to terminate the contract to return to his home country and will take a break from a professional volleyball.
Ottake was one of the key players of the Japanese National Team in their highly successful 2017 FIVB World League campaign, which ended with a defeat in the Group 2 finals to Slovenia.
He belongs to a volleyball family: his older sister Riho is also a national team player, while his father Hideyuki competed in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
