Olympiacos O.S. Piraeus did an incredible venture in finals of the Greek League Cup, held in the city of Ermoupolis, and took trophy over P.A.O.K. Thessaloniki!

Despite losing 2-0 sets and 14-10 in the tie-break, ‘red and white’ team beat currently the greatest rivals in the country 3-2 (20-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 17-15) and won their 3rd title in the League Cup (one of the three possible trophies in Greece besides national League and national Cup).

Thus, reigning champions PAOK missed huge opportunity to get their first title in the competition.

In the tie-break, everything went wrong for PAOK when American Jayson Jablonsky committed service error at 14-10. It was followed by two attacking errors from the Cuban Rolando Cepeda and one from Vasileios Kournetas (14-14).

PAOK went ahead again when American David Lee scored, but Olympiacos did not say their last word. Latvian Hermans Egleskalns blocked Cuban Javier Jiménez, while Cepeda committed error once again. Egleskalns scored ace to spice up an epic turnaround of Olympiacos 17-15.

Top scorers: OlympiacosEgleskalns 28 points, PAOKCepeda 26 points.
