The legendary head coach Velasco, who retired at the end of the last season, is appointed the new technical director of an Italian youth Men’s Volleyball sector. Thus, a 67-year-old Argentinean expert returned to the environment with whom he is familiar and with whom he achieved many successes during his coaching career.
As a head coach of Italy Men’s national team, Velasco has collected 323 caps between 1989 and 1996. During this time, he won the FIVB World Championship twice, CEV European Championship three times, FIVB World League five times, and FIVB World Cup and FIVB World Grand Champions Cup one time each. To this, Velasco added 35 games at the helm of Italy Women’s national team from 1997 to 1998.
Velasco signed a contract with Fipav for two and a half years and will be officially presented to the media in July.
