KOR M: Korean Air Retain KOVO Cup for Record Seventh Title

by WoV

Korean Air are kings of the KOVO Cup again! The holders beat Hyundai Capital Skywalkers 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-23, 25-21) in final in Yeosu, a rematch of last season’s five-game V-League final. It’s their second straight cup and a record seventh overall. New Canadian opposite Xander Ketrzynski led all scorers with 25 points and was named MVP (13 of 34 media votes, just ahead of Kim Gyu-min). Kim Gyu-min added 15 and Jeong Ji-seok 14. Leonardo Leyva Martínez scored 24 for Hyundai Capital. Head coach Renan Dal Zotto watched from the stands after back-disc surgery, so his assistant Rafael Redwitz ran the bench. The V-League opens on Oct 31 with the same match-up.
