Trentino expressed disappointment with the CEV’s decision to postpone the quarterfinal match of the 2020 CEV Champions League against Jastrzębski. The Italian side expected a forfeit win “as required by the regulation” because the Polish club opposed to the initial decision of the CEV to allow holding the encounter as scheduled (March 5).

“Trentino Volley is amazed by the change of attitude of the CEV, complaining of absolutely approximate and incomprehensible management of the issue by the Federation itself. Trentino Volley understands the difficulties that a situation like the current one related to Coronavirus entails, but doesn’t understand why only Italian teams have to suffer the consequences, when such an emergency is, unfortunately, present throughout Europe and beyond,” Trentino wrote in their official note.

‘Trentino Volley understands the difficulties that a situation like the current one related to Coronavirus entails, but doesn’t understand why only Italian teams have to suffer the consequences’

So Trentino does confirm that there is a problem and they feel harmed by CEV, but yet refuse to play both matches outside Poland and Italy which seems to be equally unfair fo both clubs? There are definetely more coronavirus cases in whole of the Europe but Italy is the largest coronavirus outbreak having about 107 people died there, no sense in specifying which regions of Italy excatly as it changes every day and involves mainly northern Italy. Looks like a cheap trick to get a walkover. A human life is worth more than any sport…

Trentino`s management is a joke. And this is how mostly volleyball clubs are and that`s why volleyball never grows.
Do you really want to force the Polish Players to go to Trentino, get the coronavirus and then take it back to Poland to spread it all over?. CEV should go ahead and disqualify Trentino.
