In the recent few days, farewells of the two big Europe’s men’s volleyball stars to their clubs, both Italian clubs, have prematurely awakened the summer transfer market.

After 8 years during which he won one Italian Championship, two Italian Cups, and three Super Cups, the Serbia National Team opposite hitter Aleksandar Atanasijević will leave Sir Safety Conad Perugia. Until a few days ago, it was only a rumor, but now it’s official as the player’s managerial agency informed that Atanasijević won’t be renewing the contract with the SuperLega club.

Individually, in the jersey of Perugia, ’Bata’ was MVP of the Italian Championship and Cup once each, and Best Scorer and Best Spiker of the Italian Championship and CEV Champions League three times each.

The other big name that announced leaving his club, even though indirectly, was Cuban-Brazilian Yoandy Leal.

“I find myself in a delicate moment in my career in which I have to face important decisions, which will have consequences. I know the value of myself and I’ll never allow anyone to give me less value than what I have!“ the outside hitter of Cucine Lube Civitanova posted on social media.

He has been a member of the SuperLega giants since 2018, winning the CEV Champions League, FIVB Club World Championship, and Italian Championship one time each, and Italian Cup two times.
