The head coach of the Italy Men’s National Team, Gianlorenzo Blengini, has chosen the players who will take part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, scheduled from July 23 to August 8.
Given that he did not send the best squad to the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, the Italy Men head coach Belngini had quite enough time to assess which players he needs for the Olympic tournament in Tokyo and which do not fit his standards.
He crossed out four players from the group that included those players who have prepared for the event in the Japanese capital at home and those who took part in the VNL: Filippo Lanza, Gabriele Nelli, Fabio Ricci, and Fabio Balaso
This is the team chosen by Blengini to play in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic tournament:
Setters: Simone Giannelli, Riccardo Sbertoli
Opposite hitters: Luca Vettori, Ivan Zaytsev
Outisde hitters: Osmany Juantorena, Jiří Kovář, Daniele Lavia, Alessandro Michieletto
Middle blockers: Simone Anzani, Gianluca Galassi, Matteo Piano
Libero: Massimo Colaci
