Itas Trentino earned another three points to keep the perfect record in the 2021/22 Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship after three rounds.
Itas Trentino won three points again in the 2021/22 SuperLega Credem Banca and now enjoy solitude at the top of the standings. Cucine Lube Civitanova suffered the second consecutive defeat (the third if we take into account the one in the Super Cup semi-final against Vero Volley Monza), but this time their fans cannot criticize the players too much because fate has turned against them in the form of injuries. The convalescent Ivan Zaytsev was joined by Osmany Juantorena and Jiří Kovář. The Lube head coach Gianlorenzo Blengini was forced to make a painful choice, practically leaving Luciano De Cecco on the bench for most of the match, lining up Daniele Sottile in the place of a setter to have the right amount of Italians on the court.
Trentino confirmed to be in great shape, dominating two of a total of four sets. There was an utmost balance among Trentino’s scorers: all five players that put their names on the scoresheet reached double digits – that really does not happen often! Among them, Alessandro Micchieletto stood out with 21 points. Bulgarian Matey Kaziyski served four aces, while Serbian Srećko Lisinac made five blocks.
