Trentino and Modena, the two big rivals in Italian men’s volleyball, locked horns in the 11th round of the 2022-23 SuperLega Credem Banca, which was played ahead of schedule. The ’A22 derby’ (derby dell’A22, which got its nickname from the Autostrada A22 – one of the most important motorways in Italy, connecting the cities of these two clubs’ headquarters). The match was moved to today as it coincided with the 2022 FIVB Club World Championship, in which Trentino will take part. And they conquered PalaPanini with a score of 3-1, with Trentino’s Lisinac and Modena’s Ngapeth getting red cards.

The players commanded by Angelo Lorenzetti hit their second consecutive victory (following three successive defeats) after Sunday’s 3-2 over Top Volley Cisterna. Despite the fact that it’s the early part of the season, we must say that Modena, projected to fight for trophies this season, is in a crisis. This was their fourth defeat in five games (the third defeat in a row): the ’Emilians’ haven’t had such a poor start in years.

The Bulgarian outside hitter, Matey Kaziyski, top-scored for Trentino with 23 points. Serb Srećko Lisinac made 4 blocks. The Turkish opposite, Adis Lagumdžija scored 19 points for Modena.
