In a decisive Game 3 at the packed Palaverde arena, Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano clinch a 3-0 victory against Igor Gorgonzola Novara in the A1 Women’s League semifinals. Despite losing a game earlier in the series, coach Santarelli’s team displayed unity and determination, returning to the form that saw them undefeated this season until last Wednesday.
The match began with a heartfelt tribute to the late Julia Ituma, commemorating the one-year anniversary of Ituma’s tragic passing.
While Game 1 was more one-sided, Game 3 proved to be fiercely competitive, particularly the nail-biting second set which the home team narrowly clinched.
Kathryn Plummer emerged as the MVP, scoring 15 points with a 52% attack efficiency. Top scorer of the game was Isabelle Haak with 18 points, followed by Kelsey Robinson-Cook with 12. Their opponents, coached by legendary Lorenzo Bernardi, fought valiantly with Marina Markova scoring 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.
With this victory, Imoco Conegliano is now set to face Savino Del Bene Scandicci in the Scudetto Final, a best-of-five series. Scandicci earned their spot after defeating Allianz Vero Volley Milano 2-0 in their semifinal series. The first match of the final series is scheduled for April 17, at Palaverde.
