Mint Vero Volley Monza secured their historic first entry into the Italian Scudetto Finals, defeating the reigning champions Itas Trentino in a dramatic tie-break at the IlT Quotidiano Arena. The nail-biting match concluded with scores of 18-25, 22-25, 25-23, 26-24, and 15-17, marking a significant victory for Monza.

The match was fiercely contested from the start, with Monza taking an early lead by winning the first two sets. However, Trentino fought back, claiming the next two sets and pushing the match to a decisive fifth set. In the end, Monza regrouped and clinched the victory in the final points of the tie-break.

Key players for Monza included Ran Takahashi, who scored 19 points and was named the match’s MVP, and the Canadian duo of Stephen Maar and Eric Loeppky, each contributing 23 points.

The match drew a crowd of 3,291 spectators and lasted for a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Monza demonstrated superior attacking efficiency with a 50% success rate, slightly edging out Trentino’s 46%.

This victory sets up Monza for their next challenge against Sir Susa Vim Perugia at the Pala Barton on April 18, where they will compete in the first match of the Scudetto Finals.
