Italy has secured its first-ever semifinal spot in the women’s volleyball tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics, defeating Serbia 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-20) in a commanding performance. The victory was highlighted by strong showings from Paola Egonu and Caterina Bosetti, who played pivotal roles in overcoming the reigning world champions.
In another quarterfinal match, the United States continued their quest to defend their Tokyo 2020 title by overcoming Poland 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-20). Jordan Thompson led the U.S. with 13 points, supported by Avery Skinner and Kathryn Plummer’s 12 points each.
The semifinal matchups are set, with Italy facing Türkiye and the U.S. going up against Brazil.
