Roma Volley Secures WEVZA Cup Title and Advances to CEV Challenge Cup

Roma Volley claimed victory in the WEVZA Cup 2024, defeating Spain’s CD Heidelberg Volkswagen 3-1 in final. After a perfect run in Pool B, with two dominant 3-0 wins, and a 3-1 triumph over France’s Beziers in the semifinals, the Italian team secured their first European trophy.

In a match held at Rome’s Palazzetto dello Sport, the opening set was closely contested, with Roma edging out Heidelberg 27-25 thanks to key plays from Marie Schölzel. The Spanish side fought back in the second set, winning 25-21, but Roma regained control with a 25-21 victory in the third set. The final set saw Roma dominate, closing the match 25-18.

Wilma Salas was named MVP, leading the team with 19 points. This victory earns Roma a spot in the 2024/2025 CEV Challenge Cup, joining five other Italian teams in the European competitions.
