This marks the fifth time that Germany has hosted the European Beach Volleyball Championships, a tournament that began in 1993. Previous editions have taken place in German cities such as Timmendorfer Strand, Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich. The 2025 competition in Düsseldorf is expected to continue Germany’s strong tradition in the sport, with the country having won a total of 39 medals in the tournament’s history, including 14 golds.

Local stars Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler, who took silver at the Paris Olympics and finished runners-up at EuroBeachVolley 2024, will also be looking to shine in front of a home crowd. Germany’s rich beach volleyball history, coupled with strong support from local sponsors and governmental bodies, promises a high-energy atmosphere.
