The Challenge Cup qualification final marked the end of a brand that supported Treviso and this season Belluno for a total of a prestigious 25-year history of top level volleyball. All in all: 9 league titles, 5 Champions League and many more trophies. The game against Piacenza was an emotional one but bitter in the end as the guests won 3-0 and will be the ones to take part in Europe next season.

Roberto Piazza (allenatore Sisley Belluno): “It’s part of life that things have a beginning and an end. Unfortunately today this is the end of a beautiful story. The absence of Sisley in volleyball will be a big loss but we have to accept it. I have to thank the club for the many years I have spent with them, for the experiences I had and the opportunities I have been given. There are things I won’t forget. Today’s game? We made the mistakes that have limited us in other occasions this season. We did not find the strength to hit winners in the clutch times. Then some dubious calls took us out of it in the third, and Piacenza, which was certainly more motivated than us today, deservedly won it”.

Luca Monti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “This is a great day for us, for me personally as well as for the club. If you look back at where the team was just a few months ago, it’s pretty amazing to celebrate our ticket to Europe today, me and my players have to be proud of that. But this is a sad day for volleyball, this is the last game of a club like Sisley which made the history of volleyball, all the people that love this sport can only be sad because this has been a glorious club. We played today’s game very well, with fighting spirit, especially after the Yellow card that Zlatanov received, we were probably more motivated than them, but it’s been tough to win anyway”.
