Italy completed an unbeaten run at the AIA Aequilibrium Cup Women Elite with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Poland in Genoa.
The world champions prevailed 26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-11 after a fiercely contested match lasting more than two hours, sealing the tournament title in front of approximately 2,000 spectators.
Ekaterina Antropova starred for Italy with 20 points, while Linda Manfredini contributed 10 points and earned MVP honors for the tournament.
Head coach Julio Velasco praised his side’s resilience after the match, highlighting the team’s ability to win despite fatigue and inconsistency.
