The Marshall case is still open at least from the standpoint of LPR Piacenza.

Cuban receiver has been registered as foreign player by Piacenza after a long story that started on July 4 involving club itself (who wanted to register him as Italian) Italian Volleyball Federation, Cuban Volleyball Federation and International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). All participants were transferring responsibility to others.

Piacenza President and Sporting Director held a press conference on this subject

“We have a proof that changing sports nationality did not depend of Cuban Federation. The Italian Federation, if it wants, can allow the change of sports nationality. Why it was YES for Juantorena and NO to Marshall? Dennis was another player who changed sports nationality thanks to the signature of the Italian federation. We are in contact with the League lawyer to figure out how to move,” stated Gabriele Cottarelli, Piacenza Sporting Director.

“It is a racial discrimination that prevents a man of Cuban origin to become Italian even if he has the right,” added Guido Molinaroli, President of Serie A1 club.
