Busto won big match of the sixth round of Women’s Volleyball Serie A1 against European champions Pomì Casalmaggiore 3-2 at home to reach 14 points and level at the top of the standings with the rivals they just beat and also with Savino Scandicci. All three teams have 5-1 record but Casalmaggiore have the best set ratio.
In nearly packed „Palayamamay“ gymnasium, the team coached by Marco Mencarelli recovered from disadvantage in the initial set, speeded up and moved to 2-1, fell in the fourth set and raised again for the tiebreaker.
Once again Valentina Diouf led Busto to their fifth consecutive victory: with 33 points (top scorer of the match with Croatian Samanta Fabris from Casalmaggiore), the opposite was undoubtedly the most decisive player of the clash, shining in attack and responding in many defensive phases.
Scandicci continued an amazing season which was pretty much expected because the club spent a lot of money in the summer transfer market to inveigle several world volleyball stars to come. They achieved 3-0 away win against Club Italia with 18 points (3 aces) from Czech Aneta Havlíčková, while Brazilian Adenízia Ferreira had as much as 5 blocks to lock the net. On the other side, Paola Egonu had 16 points.
