Modena vs. Casalmaggiore
Casalmaggiore have risked a lot against Modena in Round 8 of Italian Women’s Volleyball Serie A1 by trailing 2-0 in sets. But thanks to passionate return, firstly on the wings of Croatian Samanta Fabris (23 points) and later carried by young Anastasia Guerra, CEV Champions League reigning champions caused another home defeat to Modena and claimed leadership in the standings. Interestingly, Modena still did not manage to win in front of own crowd this seasom, even under new coach (Marco Gaspari replaced Lorenzo Micelli).
For Modena, Serbian Jovana Brakočević-Canzian opened the match with style but fell afterwards (13 ppints) while Turkish Neriman Özsoy finished with 20 points.
In the other Round 8 match played on Sunday, Igor Gorgonzola Novara had a bad opening against Saugella Monza but prevailed, having Croatian Katarina Barun-Šušnjar on the high level – 23 points.
