The 40-year-old Hristo Zlatanov, one of the “volleyball icons” in Italy, has decided to finish his career as a player after the Playoffs in Serie A1.
As we find out his farewell match will be at the end of the season, the exact day depends on the Playoffs and the matches in CEV Cup.
During his career (25 years) Zlatanov played only in Italy and scored 9688 points. For that time Zlatanov, the icon of Piacenza, was nominated for MVP of the round for 75 times and he is third in the ranking of the most present player with 732 games behind Samuele Papi who also announced his retirement after this season and Alessandro Fei.
Asked by Italian journalist what he would give to finish his career with a win in the League or CEV Cup (trophy). He said that he’d give absolutely everything and that it would be a huge gift for him.
Italian and European volleyball will miss the player as Zlatanov.
