Modena – Verona
Let us firstly start with the epic game from Modena where Verona managed to defeat the reigning champions! The boys coached by Nikola Grbić were not afraid of the mighty opponents or the crowd in PalaPanini. They played bravely and managed to score a huge away win.
Just by looking at the result of each set you can see how dramatic this game was. In the 4th set Verona were up by 24:22 and had the big chance to end this match, however Modena managed to level the score at 24:24!
Verona had several more match points, at 25:24, 26:25 and 27:26, but after failing to take any of them it was Modena who went in front at 28:27. Still, that was one and only set point for the hosts in this match and they missed it. Verona tied the score at 28:28, then got in front at 29:28 and won the match by 30:28, 3-1 in sets.
In the other game of the day Perugia scored quite a convincing win over Piacenza at home court. It was all over quite quickly as the home side dominated in each of three sets.
The first teams to collect 2 wins will advance to the semifinals.
