After Verona triumphed in PalaPanini in Game 1, Modena answered back in PalaSport in Game 2 and stayed alive in this series. The reigning Italian champions scored a straight-sets away win on Thirsday evening and showed that they will not renounce the Serie A1 title that easily.
“We had the right attitude. We managed to show our best game in the very difficult moment and against a very difficult opponent. Ngapeth made a great performance, it was one of his best games in this season. Also, the experience of Dragan Travica meant a lot to us. Now I have two setters who can do so much for the team and I am proud of both of them. Still, we haven’t finished anything yet. We still need one more win to advance to the semifinals,” said Modena head coach Lorenzo Tubertini.
On the other side Verona are definitely very disappointed as they missed a match point in front of their fans. However, they refuse to surrender and promise a big fight in Game 3.
“Modena arrived here with a knife in their teeth and they played their best game so far in the season. They had Earvin Ngapeth who was just perfect in this match. But, as I said after the Game 1, it is not over yet. Now we go to Modena where we will to score another win,” said Verona head coach Nikola Grbić.
