SAB Grima Legnano, Italian Women’s volleyball Serie A1 rookies acquired three foreign players for a period of one week.

Although she arrived at the latest of the three players, the U.S. receiver Sonja Newcombe is the most prominent name that came to Legnano during this week, and during summer transfer window as well. After graduating at the University of Oregon in 2009, a 29-year-old player has changed 7 clubs, competing at three continents before joining Legnano from the Chinese side Sichuan. Newcombe is currently engaged with the U.S. National Team in the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix (listed but not played yet).

Before Newcombe, Legnano hired her teammate from Lokomotiv Baku in 2015/16, the Slovakian middle blocker Jaroslava Pencová (arrived from BKS Profi Credit Bielsko-Biała of Poland), and Canadian middle blocker Alicia Ogoms (first professional season upon graduating at University of Southern California).
