After the game of the FIVB World Grand Prix between Italy and Brazil on August 6, she had been called to a doping test and after a month, the result has arrived – Sylla is positive for clenbuterol, a substance that is not a steroid, but is used by bodybuilders who want to reduce weight after a training cycle, especially women.

“It could have been caused by contaminated food. We are waiting for complete results to see the percentage of substance in Sylla’s body. I want to remind you that Sylla didn’t play in this game,” says the president of the Italian Volleyball Federation Bruno Cattaneo.

According to some experts, there is a chance that he took this substance without knowing it while eating some meat. Let’s wait for the final results.

This is not the first case of using clenbuterol in Italy. Before the start of the Olympic Games in Rio last year, the beach volleyball player Viktoria Toth was tested positive. Also, the 36-year old player Marco Forni was also suspended because of being tested positive for this substance.

However, if this turns out to be true, Miriam Sylla will have to deal with multi-year suspension from volleyball…
