One of the biggest derbies of an Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship Serie A1, Cucine Lube Civitanova vs. Sir Safety Conad Perugia, ended with a highly surprising result!

By saying a surprising result, we don’t think on the win of the defending champions Lube but on the fact they defeated Perugia, who held 8-game unbeaten streak since the beginning of the season, in straight sets, partially 28-26, 25-15, 25-21).

On the wings of more 4,000 own fans in sold-out “Eurosole Forum” (sold-out four days ago!), Lube demonstrated power over Serie A1 leaders in Round 9 game, to take over their place in the rankings with 9-1 and 26 points. Perugia are at 8-1 and 24 points.

By looking at the statistics, it is quite obvious how Lube outclassed their rivals: 72% – 38% in reception and 59% – 41% in attack. As for the scorer’s list: Osmany Juantorena and American Taylor Sander made 13 points apiece for Lube while Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević notched 12 for Perugia.

Diatec Trentino are waking up as they achieved the second win in a row. They beat Wixo LPR Piacenza in straight sets to get a 4-5 record. The Canadian Nicholas Hoag scored 15 points for the winning side.
