In the first semifinal encounter of Del Monte Coppa Italia in Bari, Lube recovered from a 0-1 in sets to take revenge on Modena for the recent defeat in Serie A1, 3-1 (17-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-21). Interestingly, unlike the game in which they beat Lube, six days ago, Modena now had both Earvin Ngapeth and Giulio Sabbi at the disposal. It seems that Modena coach Radostin Stoytchev was right when he said his team will no longer have surprise effect on their side.
Modena established domination early in the first set, 9-5, and kept the same rhythm until the end, even making an 8-point gap, 22-14.
Modena were close to making a 2-0 lead, but each time they got a significant advantage (5-2, 13-10, 19-16) Lube managed to avoid the scenario from the opening set. Exactly at 19-16 for Modena, Lube made a decisive step towards leveling at 1-1 – they made a 6-1 run! At 24-24, Micah Christenson took the things into his hands: kill block + ace for a tie!
In the third set, Lube were constantly ahead, mostly by 3 points, and took a 2-1 lead.
At 5-5 in the fourth set, Lube made a 4-0 run with two consecutive aces from Taylor Sander. When Earvin Ngapeth made a kill that went out of bounds at 18-13 for Lube, it was clear that the side coached by Giampaolo Medei will go to the final.
The Bulgarian Tsvetan Sokolov scored 24 points for Lube, while Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth delivered 18 points for Modena for which Andrea Argenta made 100% excellent attack (8/8). But, unfortunately for him and Modena fans, he got injured in the second set.
Sir Safety Perugia pretty much reduced the number of errors when it comes to this level of competing (18) and defeated Diatec Trentino (committed 31 errors) by a 3-0 in the other Italian cup semifinals. Thus, Perugia, for which Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević delivered 16 points, will fight in the final of the tournament for the first time in club history. Atanasijević’s compatriot Uroš Kovačević scored 12 points for Trentino.

Trentino is a mistake this season and nothing will win this season. Great, Freat that Civitanova will play with Perugia in the final. Civitanova will win the Italian Cup for sure.
