PUCHAR POLSKI: Trefl kick out trophy holders Zaksa to face Skra in the final! (VIDEO)

Despite being underdogs in the first semifinal of the Polish men’s volleyball cup (Puchar Polski), whose Final Four is held in Wrocław, Trefl prevailed in four sets against Zaksa, having a chance to repeat the success from 2015 when they won their first and also the last trophy in the tournament, so far, 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23).

Everything went downhill for Trefl as they lost the first set and were trailing 5-2 in the second. But, they made a turnaround, taking a 14-10 lead and, ultimately, tying at 1-1.

Zaksa had the opportunity to extend the game to the tie-break after making a comeback from 5-10 to 14-13 but failed to seize it. The MVP of the game Damian Schulz’s 3-meter kill at 24-23 sealed the fate of trophy holders Zaksa.

Damian Schulz scored 22 points (3 kill blocks) for Trefl, while Puerto Rican Maurice Torres made 17 for Zaksa.

In the other semifinal duel, PGE Skra Bełchatów defeated Onico Warszawa much easier than expected, 3-0, and will fight for the No.8 trophy in the Polish cup.

Skra coach Roberto Piazza could not count on a starting setter Grzegorz Łomacz but his replacement in the line-up Marcin Janusz did an amazing job which was crowned by the MVP of the match award.

Skra captain Mariusz Wlazły made the final touch on the match – a kill block on Wojciech Włodarczyk…
