The race for the SV.League women’s playoffs intensified over the weekend as Saga Hisamitsu Springs, Saitama Ageo Medics, and Toray Arrows clinched their places in the quarterfinals. They join Osaka Marvelous, NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki, and Denso Airybees Koriyama in the next stage of the competition.
One of the standout performances came from Sylvia Nwakalor, who delivered an incredible 44 points to help Toray Arrows defeat Ageo in a thrilling five-set match (3-2). Meanwhile, Saga Hisamitsu Springs secured their qualification with a 3-1 win over NEC Red Rockets, led by Stephanie Samedy’s 30-point performance.
Elsewhere, Gunma Green Wings made history by securing their first-ever SV.League victory, stunning Queenseis Kariya with a dominant 3-0 win. PFU BlueCats also shocked league leaders Osaka Marvelous, claiming a dramatic five-set victory before Osaka bounced back with a sweep the following day.
As the regular season nears its conclusion, the battle for the final two quarterfinal spots remains fierce, with Victorina Himeji, Astemo Rivale Ibaraki, and PFU BlueCats among the top contenders.
