
The semifinals of Japan’s men’s SV.League kicked off with major upsets as JTEKT Stings Aichi and Wolfdogs Nagoya both secured stunning wins over home favorites.
Kento Miyaura led JTEKT Stings Aichi to a powerful 3-1 (33-31, 18-25, 25-20, 25-16) win against regular season leaders Osaka Bluteon. Miyaura tallied 25 points, hitting at a sharp 67% success rate, while Ricardo Lucarelli and Torey DeFalco added 19 and 18 points respectively. On the opposing side, Miguel Lopez and Yuji Nishida combined for 40 points but couldn’t stop Aichi’s charge.
In the second semifinal, Wolfdogs Nagoya completed a breathtaking comeback against defending champions Suntory Sunbirds Osaka. Despite dropping the first two sets, Nagoya clawed back to take a thrilling 3-2 (22-25, 14-25, 27-25, 25-23, 17-15) victory. Nimir Abdel Aziz was the hero, delivering 36 points with a 60% success rate. Taito Mizumachi and Tine Urnaut also made key contributions.
