Rush&Cahs v. Skywalkers
At the opening of the 2016/2017 Men’s Volleyball Korean Championship, reigning champions Ansan OK SavingsBank Rush&Cash VC suffered heavy defeat to Hyundai Capital Skywalkers 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-16) at home. It added sault in the wounds of Rush&Cash who had to start the season without a player that was projected as the main power of the team this season, the Cuban Rolando Cepeda (drafted this summer). At the moment, he is in the Finnish jail due to rape charges. His replacement, the Montenegrin Marko Bojić, highlighted title holders with 14 points. In Skywalkers, Moon Sung-Min scored 15 points.
In Women’s Championship, which also started today, there was upset as well. Vice champions IBK Altos lost to hi-pass Zenith Korea Expressway 3-0 (25-20, 27-25, 26-24) on road. Expressway played without one of their key players from last season, the American Leslie Cikra. She was re-elected on the draft but suffered back injury and replaced by compatriot from Virginia Tech college Kennedy Bryan. Jung Dae-Young scored 16 points for the winners while American Madison Rishel (last season Kingdon) collected same amount of points for Altos.
