In Round 24, The Jumbos downed direct rivals for the spot No.1, which is the only spot in the standings that secures playoff final, Hyundai Skywalkers, 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20). Slovenian international Mitja Gasparini, the best server in V-League this sason, led the Jumbos with 26 points, topping the Skywalkers’ home power Moon Sung-Min, who had 22. For the reasons yet unknown, Canadian Toontje van Lankvelt only played first set for the Skywalkers.
Women’s leaders, Heungkuk Pink Spiders, also maintained leadership in the V-League standings by beating IBK Altos 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23) in Round 20. Canadian Tabitha Love had another huge game with 34 points (3 blocks) for the winners. U.S. import Madison Rishel collected 29 for the Altos.
